The station is located in the center of Stāmeriena parish (oldest name Vārgaļi), started to build in 1907. Historically there are two centers – one around the railway station – and one kilometer around the former center of Stāmeriena manor have been built. Here, travelers are advised to visit Stāmeriena Castle and Lake, as well as St. Nicholas Alexander Orthodox Church. Stāmeriena station is the closest road to the recreation complex “Vonadziņi” near Lake Ludza.
